Stunt Ranch Santa Monica Mountains Reserve

What is Happening at Stunt Ranch Reserve?

Stunt Ranch Reserve supports a variety of short-term and long-term research projects managed by university-level students and faculty researchers. The reserve welcomes researchers from universities across California and beyond to study biology, botany, anthropology, geology, earth sciences, environmental engineering, physical geography, public health, and resource management.

The reserve also works in tandem with UCLA’s La Kretz Center for California Conservation to create and fund research opportunities for university students, leading to dozens of published papers annually.

Stunt Ranch Reserve is an exciting setting for students to learn about the history of the Santa Monica Mountains, local plant and animal ecology, and ongoing conservation research conducted at the reserve.

Stunt Ranch serves as a unique setting for outreach events that support California conservation and community engagement.

The reserve can accommodate large group events and provides as an intimate setting to promote your cause. We encourage university clubs and organizations to consider the reserve for events relevant to California environmentalism, broadly considered. Residents of the surrounding area may also apply to use the reserve for community meetings and events.

Our staff collaborates with local environmental groups and state and federal agencies to preserve and maintain Stunt Ranch Reserve and the adjacent Cold Creek Canyon Preserve. Partners of the reserve include the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, TreePeople Land Trust, California State Parks, and the US National Park Service. We also collaborate with UCLA’s Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department and the La Kretz Center for California Conservation Science to provide educational opportunities for students interested in California conservation research.
