Stunt Ranch Reserve takes pride in serving as a prominent location in the Santa Monica Mountains for K-12 education programs. Over the last two decades, over 150 distinct schools have explored the reserve, traversing hiking trails and participating in activities related to native wildlife, natural systems, and indigenous history of Santa Monica Mountains tribes: The Chumash and Gabrielino-Tongva. For many inner-city residents, a visit to Stunt Ranch Reserve represents their initial encounter with the natural landscapes of Southern California. Consequently, such a trip becomes an eye-opening experience, potentially reshaping students’ perspectives on the natural world!
Education Programs
Over the years, Stunt Ranch has enjoyed collaborating with diverse outdoor education groups. One notable example is the Cold Creek Docents, who were a significant partner to the reserve and organized field trips for thousands of K-12 students each year before merging with TreePeople Land Trust in 2018. After the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown, we have been actively broadening our network of partners and endorsing innovative education programs at the reserve. K-12 Field Trips
Partners affiliated with the reserve oversee and guide all K-12 class visits to Stunt Ranch. The partner leading Stunt’s education program often change throughout the year, making the coordination of field trips a collaborative endeavor between reserve staff and partners.
